Mississippi River Oil Spill - Possible Legal Cases

Due to an oil spill, the port is losing about $100,000 in revenue each day the river is closed. That does not include the losses to terminal operators, stevedores, tug boat operators and other private businesses.

If your business has been impacted by the oil spill, please contact our law firm to protect your legal rights.

Introduction:

The Coast Guard temporarily closed off a 100-mile stretch (160-kilometer) of the Mississippi river, from the port of New Orleans down to the Gulf of Mexico, after the oil tanker Tintomara collided on Wednesday July 23, 2008 with an American Commercial Lines barge that was being pushed by a tug boat.

A barge full of more than 400,000 gallons of fuel and a heavy tanker collided, spreading a rainbow sheen of oil across 100 miles of the Mississippi River down to the Gulf of Mexico. The smell of the industrial boiler oil spread for miles, according to residents, and stands out even in a city known for its industrial accidents.
