Rotting Andersen Tilt-Wash Windows

The law firm of Audet & Partners is investigating allegedly defective Andersen “Tilt-Wash” windows.

According to published reports, Andersen Tilt-Wash windows manufactured from 1996 to the  present by the Andersen Corp. are prone to rotting.andersen tilt-wash windows

Allegedly over the course of time, the wood frame, which is encased by a vinyl exterior, has a tendency to rot.  The vinyl casement used to hold the window together apparently is prone to cracking around the corners thus allowing moisture and water to seep into the frame and therefore rot the wood.

Because of the vinyl window casement it is hard to tell if the wood frames have begun to rot, although some people have allegedly noticed the growth of mushrooms and fungi between the vertical frame and the window sill.  Others have noted that the vinyl around the windows feels soft and is depressed easily with a finger.  Windows with this rotting problem usually cannot be repaired and instead require complete window replacement.

This appears to be a common problem, and a potentially large number of homes are affected.
